PRESS RELEASE, Brussels, 6 September 2021
PVthin, the International Thin-Film Solar Industry Association, announces the appointment of Chris Case, Chief Technology Officer at Oxford PV, as the new President of the association. The election was held at PVthin’s Extraordinary General Assembly on 24 August. At the same time Alexander Majer, Deputy Head of European Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations at First Solar, was appointed as PVthin’s newest board member, and will be responsible for leading EU relations at PVthin.
Following the election, the new President Chris Case said: “Europe is currently facing a period of major change. The European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 legislative package will present major opportunities for thin-film PV. I am proud and motivated to be at the helm of PVthin and to represent the thin-film solar industry and its broader value chain based on chalcogenide, perovskite, tandem and heterojunction PV technologies. Our technologies will be crucial to achieve the EU’s climate ambitions.”
Chris Case succeeds Andreas Wade, who was instrumental in founding PVthin and was President of the association for 10 years. Andreas brought PVthin to the centre of sustainable energy discussions in Europe and consolidated the association as the voice of the thin-film PV industry.
