MEP Jytte Guteland’s ambitious plan to reduce emissions in EU aligned with the Paris Agreement

MEP Jytte Guteland, the Swedish social democrat, has proposed an ambitious reduction in EU emissions in her new climate report, flagging a start of a controversial debate in the European Parliament.

But in fact the Paris Agreement’s objectives to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees could become a real achievement for the EU if the MEP’s proposal to cut 65% emissions is adopted.

The ENVI committee will scheduled to vote on the draft report on 3 June.
